A clogged hose causes sudden suction loss in the Shark Navigator.
If your vacuum was working fine and instantly lost power after picking up a soft object, the hose is the first place to check.
Many blockages sit deep inside and aren’t visible from the outside.
Step 1: Perform the Coin Drop Test
Detach the hose completely. Hold it upright and drop a coin through it.
- If it passes through → hose is clear.
- If it stops → blockage confirmed.
Step 2: Common Hose Clog Items
Most frequent causes:
- Scrunchies
- Baby socks
- Paper towels
- Dryer sheets
- Pet toys
Soft objects bunch up and expand inside the tube.
Step 3: Remove Safely
Use:
- Flexible drain snake
- Wooden broom handle
- Plastic rod
Never use sharp metal tools that can puncture the hose.
If suction remains weak after clearing the hose, you may need to follow a full airflow inspection. complete Shark Navigator suction troubleshooting guide
